The Longines Avigation Oversize Crown is based on an aviator’s watch produced by Longines in the 1920s. The bezel is marked with indices and can be turned in both directions; its fluted edge enables the pilot to manipulate it with great precision. The oversize winding stem and crown stand away from the bezel, which means that a pilot wearing gloves can turn the latter unhindered. The gold-plated, luminous, pear-shaped hands contrast well against the black dial, which features white Arabic numerals. This watch, fitted with an L704 self-winding mechanical movement, shows the hours, minutes and seconds, and has a second timezone as well as a date aperture at 3 o’clock. The steel case has a diameter of 41 mm. The curved horns fit snugly on the wrist. And finally, the black alligator strap echoes the black dial.
