The Omega Speedmaster X-33 was introduced in 1998 as a modern-day Moonwatch - now 'Mars Watch'. As such it featured a high-tech titanium case and an analog/digital movement with a specific set of functions. A second generation was introduced in 2001, having received a number of minor updates.Reference 3991.50.09 is part of the second generation, which is most easily recognized by its matte bezel insert and distinct crown.
